About Eric Furie, MD, FAAOS.

Dr. Eric Furie is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint replacement, and trauma surgery. With a passion for helping athletes of all ages and abilities return to their sport, Dr. Furie brings a unique perspective as a former collegiate rugby and lacrosse player who has undergone multiple surgeries himself. This personal experience has deepened his empathy for patients and drives his commitment to their recovery.

Dr. Furie earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1991, and his academic journey also includes studies at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Columbia, Bard College, and The City College of New York. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and received advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the renowned Cincinnati Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

At The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Dr. Furie conducted groundbreaking research on the effects of pulsed ultrasound in bone healing.Dr. Furie has enjoyed sharing his expertise by mentoring orthopedic surgical residents at Atlanta Medical Center for over 20 years and continues to enjoy teaching Emory University physician assistant students today. A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Furie has had affiliations with multiple leading institutions in Atlanta including Piedmont Hospital, Northside Hospital, and Atlanta Medical Center, where he served as Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2017 to 2019.
